I made this cello for a student project in cooperation with a theater and concert organization - SPOT Groningen. We were supposed to create a game that makes use of the in house recorded orchestra which we used to shape the world and story of our game. One of these story asepcts are great instruments which play natures sounds and create a soothing feeling around it. I sat down with our art lead and thought about what could make these instruments a little more interesting. We ended up with animal inspired features on the instruments which fits not only the theme we were going for but was also based on which animal we thought off when listening to the provided music. Here is the end result of my “Frog Cello” which was one of the fundamental instruments used in the piece we had. This was my first stylized model which forced me to think outside the box and try to find a clear and recognizable frog outline which also worked together with the cello shape.
