The Great Dorpat Refractor, built by Joseph Fraunhofer, was the largest and most modern telescope at the beginning of the 19th century. This exact refractor was brought to Tartu Observatory in 1824. F. G. W. Struve authored some of the most famous works conducted using Fraunhofer’s refractor. The telescope was restored in 1993.
