Area of outcrop set on private land in the Fowberry Moor area, near Wooler, Northumberland.
Found during an excavation by Stan Beckensall and students from University of Newcastle in 1973, this carved outcrop was one of a number of previously unknown petroglyphs. As well as other carved sections of outcrop, the dig unearthed a double arc of cobbles placed on top of bedrock, some of which were also carved. Motifs consist of cups, cups with arcs, penannulars, grooves, multi rings and linear grooves. Referenced ‘Fowberry Excavation Site 6’ on the Beckensall Archive (BA), it was added to ERA by NADRAP in 2008.
