More model informationRiver girl Enns in the castle park Wieselburg.
The “river girls” are personified representations of main rivers of the monarchy. They originate from the Danubius Fountain at Albertinerplatz in Vienna and were created by sculptor Johann Meixner. In 1950, the city of Vienna donated six of a total of ten “river girls” to Wieselburg, after the Danubius Fountain was damaged in the war. Five sculptures were set up in the castle park. The “March” has disappeared. In 1986, the originals were returned to the city of Vienna. Today, the replicas of the five “river girls” are still in the castle park of the city and are reminiscent of a moving chapter of post-war history.
