Figurine of Isis-Thermouthis (HARGM9863)3D Model
Terracotta figurine of goddess Isis-Thermouthis. She is depicted with a human upper body and the lower body of a serpent. The goddess is wearing an elaborate headdress with horns and a sun disc and a short dress. Under the dress is a coiled snake tail and stalks of wheat at the sides. The object is hollow with an opening at the bottom and a hole in the back. It is made of orange fabric, which is covered in many places with white plaster. Isis-Thermouthis combines Isis with the cobra goddess Renenutet (Greek Thermouthis). Renenutet was a protector of the king and the harvest. The Kent catalogue lists the object as coming from Hawara. Terracotta figures like this date to the Graeco-Roman Period. Previously part of the Kent collection, which was bequeathed to Harrogate Museum in 1968.
