The upper part of the tree captures energy that it uses to heat water (which is absorbed by the roots). The steam generated moves turbines inside the tree that also generate energy. The steam comes out of the tubes at the top and humidifies the air. The white faces of the tree have a bilayer where photosynthesizing algae are stored, which also produce energy.
