More model informationEpidote slickenfibers on fault surface of a boulder in Hidden Springs Wash area, southern Rincon Mountains, Arizona. Area of epidote-slickenfiber surface ~1 meter high by 2 meters wide. The fault depicted here is found within the cataclasite zone of the footwall of the Catalina-Rincon detachment fault that overprints a pre-existing mylonitic fabric. The presence of epidote on fault surfaces in this zone is consistent with strain-hardening mini-detachments that form near the brittle-ductile transition (as described in Selverstone et al., 2012).
