Outcrop found S of Lordenshaw multivallate hillfort on Garleigh Moor, S of Rothbury, Northumberland.
This outcrop is referenced ‘East Lordenshaw 3g’ on the Beckensall Archive (BA) and is recorded as “Fourteen cups, some of which are small”. NADRAP added the record to ERA in 2008 describing various cups and bowls, but suggested some may have occurred naturally.
This model shows at least 1 cup has been placed in a raised area, giving the impression of a ring in some directional light. This is a characteristic seen elsewhere in Northumberland and around Rombalds Moor in West Yorkshire.
