High-Cross base standing in the graveyard (WM025-110004-) to the north of the medieval church ruins (WM025-110002-), on the site of an 8th/9th-century monastery founded by St Maol Tuile in the townland of Dysart, Co. Westmeath. Maol Tuile of Díseart died around 830 AD, he was reputedly the son of Nóchaire of the Ceinéal Laoghaire of Meath. A decorated sandstone pyramidal-shaped cross-base (H 0.55m; top Wth 0.29m; base Wth 0.32m) with a rectangular mortice or socket (dims. 0.12m x 0.07m x D 0.06m) into which a cross shaft now lost was inserted. Three faces of the cross are decorated with poorly preserved carvings within incised panels. Possible carving of Christ crucified standing on the mount with winged angels either side of his head with Longinus piercing his side with a lance. Similar to the carvings on the Clonmacnoise Crucifixion Plaque of 10th-century date and to Crucifixion scenes depicted in the St Gall Gospel Book of 8th-century date & the Southhampton Psalter dating from the 9th-11th century.
