More model informationThis virtual outcrop model shows a part of the Dyrfjöll mountains in Borgarfjörður eystri (Iceland). The outcrop consists of a partially eroded caldera-filling hyaloclastite, which is intersected by regional basaltic dikes. The outcrop model is one of three models of parts of the Dyrfjöll caldera created for a research project, which investigated the interaction of magmatic dikes with pre-existing fractures in hyaloclastite.
