Dun Vulan, Rudha Ardvule, Bornish, South Uist, Outer Hebrides, Scotland.
This broch and surrounding archaeological deposits are being eroded by the sea, Excavations were carried out 1991-6 by Sheffield University, the construction of the broch was dated to 150-50BC. A concrete apron was constructed to protect the broch from the ravages of the sea, but even in 2012 this was being eroded, by 2018 the problem was deemed significant enough for a futher program of excavations, consolidation works and measure to protect the site from the sea.
Aerial photographs for this model were taken using a kite, I had a problem with a lack of wind. the photographic coverage is not as good as i’d have liked but the model serves as a record of the condition of this site in September 2012.
