One of a cluster of prehistoric carvings found S of Dobrudden Farm caravan park on Baildon Moor, West Yorkshire.
This ground level stone was first noted by Mike Short and referenced ‘Dobrudden (South) 05’ on ERA by the CSI: Rombalds Moor project. They describe:
‘…measuring 0.5m x 0.38m x 0.09m high. Single cup in the centre of the flat upper surface, 5cm in diameter, 2cm deep. There is a groove parallel to the long axis of the rock (7cm long, 3-4cm wide, 1.5cm deep), lying to the NW of the cup, immediately adjacent. Both the cup and the groove are eroded on their northern edge and could possibly be natural.’
This model appears to show the groove has been formed by linked cups, suggesting natural causation is unlikely.

This decimated model was created from a single stereo pair captured by Peter Butler in May 2012. The imagery forms part of the HLF funded CSI: Rombalds Moor / Watershed Landscape Project archive.
