It is usually a good idea to wear earplugs with a motorbike helmet, especially when the journey is long and/ or faster. Generally, such sounds are dangerous for the human ear cells. It is wrong to say that what only creates noise around you is your bike’s engine; wind noise can be so loud that it exceeds safety limits and lead to hearing loss over time.
Nowadays, we have advanced models of ear plugs which can lower the intensity of harmful noises still enabling you to hear important sounds like traffic or an ambulance siren or even motorcycle engine. There are even specialized ear plugs manufactured specifically for bikers who filter out road as well as wind noise while allowing voice and other relevant sounds through them if you use communication system within your helmet.
