“How dare you! After all I’ve done to keep us out of reach of the Diamond Kingdom, you can’t even muster the smallest bit of appreciation!” she snapped.
“Don’t even act like it isn’t in your best interest! You and I both know that if Dad was still alive, you would have happily left me with him and let him deal with the Diamond Kingdom crap. You aren’t the saint you pretend to be, Natalia!” David protested.
“I don’t pretend to be a saint, David! And there’s nothing stopping me from ditching you and that allay! I’m not taking care of you because I’m forced to-I’m doing it by choice! Because I love you! You need to stop being so self-centered and start focusing on something else for a change.” she demanded. David opened his mouth, but couldn’t come up with a response. He sighed.
“Whatever…” he muttered as he looked down. The allay flew closer to him, a sad look on her face. Natalia seemed to cool down.
“David, I’m sorry, okay? Let’s just finish what we’re here to do.” she said.
