Near Del Rio, Texas, in a west-facing shelter site situated precariously 60 meters (200 ft.) above the Devils River valley. One of the panthers (seen in this model) is 1.2 meters tall (~4 ft.) and 2 meters long (~7 ft.), situated next to an anthropomorphic figure referred to as a shaman. The panthers (mountain lions) are typical of the Pecos River rock art style but Red Linear, Red Monochrome, and geometric designs also in this model speak to the long-term nature of predominantly spiritual sites such as these. The shelter site is unsuitable for habitation due to its shallow set back above a substantial cliff and difficulty in access. One can image it almost as a billboard above the river valley when the art was fresh and vibrant. The valley vista from the site also implies a location of awe.
