Prehistoric carving found on moorland, approx. 200 metres west of the Cow and Calf Hotel, on Rombalds Moor, West Yorkshire.
This small rock can be found a few metres south of ‘Cow and Calf 04’ and is often obscured by vegetation. Referenced IAG313 in Boughey & Vickerman’s 2003 publication ‘Prehistoric Rock Art of the West Riding’ it’s noted as having 13 cups.
The CSI: Rombalds Moor project subsequently referenced the stone ‘Cow and Calf 05’ describing:
‘…Heavily weathered cups of varying sizes are aligned roughly with the bedding planes. Fifteen cups were observed, one of which is shallow but is probably carved.’
