More model informationThe Congo Basin is a huge tropical forest, second only to the Amazon, and plays a big role in the global CO2 balance. However, we don’t know exactly how much CO2 it absorbs, so it’s important to study it more closely. To do that, ISOFYS teamed up with the INERA research centre to install the first-ever flux tower in the forest. This tower is up and running in the Yangambi Biosphere Reserve in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and measures the exchange of greenhouse gases between the atmosphere and the tropical forest.
