The Earl of Abergavenny is known to have carried between thirty and thirty two guns, as testified by John Wordsworth in a letter written in March 1801. According to East India Company records this cannon ball would have been for a 12lb demi-culverin medium gun with an effective range of 1,800 feet (550 metres).
