A cross slab from Clonmel. This project is funded through the Irish Walled Towns Network programme in conjunction with Tipperary County Council’
On the surface of the slab there is an incised effigy of a figure clad in a long loose gown falling in many folds to the feet. The left hand is depicted holding the mantle string at chest height and the right hand grasps a fold of the mantle at upper leg height on the dexter side. The head of the figure is missing, either badly spawled or deliberately mutilated and the surface of the lower dexter side is also badly damaged. There is an inscription, in Lombardic characters, along the chamfer on the sinister side. The inscription did not come through in the 3D model as this part of the slab was obcured by the inset cut into the floor.
