Object Description This stone was found along with a number of other spherical cobbles on an open-air altar which is located within the ecclesiastical enclosure at Inishmurray, Co. Sligo. This monument is known as the Clocha Breaca, which translates as speckled stones in the Irish language. The monument consists of a drystone leacht, on top of which are an upstanding cross-slab and a large number of rounded beach cobbles many of which are decorated. The monument was used for cursing rituals. This stone is spherical and is decorated with a centrally-placed cross enclosed within a circle. This stone is one of a collection which cover the top of a drystone altar-like leacht at the early medieval ecclesiastical site on Inishmurray, Co. Sligo.
