The iconic ‘Bridge Over the Atlantic’ is a category A listed bridge, considered a key tourism asset. Its unusually steep arch and narrow, single road pose difficulty in carrying out routine structural surveys, which normally require a crane to be situated on top of a flat section of the bridge.
Aerial photogrammetry offers a solution to the obstruction of traffic on a highly used and unusually unavoidable section of road, whilst also providing the abilty to efficiently survey beneath the structure, which in this instance cannot be achieved through the use of a crane.
