Boulder on moorland near Glitteringstone, approximately 1000 metres NE of Thropton, Northumberland.
Referenced on the Beckensall Archive (BA) as ‘Chirnells Moor N’, this carving was subsequently added to ERA by NADRAP in 2008. It’s recorded as having a number of cups and cups with rings. Stan Beckensall’s original 1970s drawing indicates 5 cups with single rings, but two separate drawings during NADRAP recording suggests 1 and then 4. The latter appears to have been drawn from photogrammetry produced in 2007.
Not all of the motifs previously recorded can be picked out on this model. However, additional motifs not previously drawn can be made out.
