Outcrop on private farmland near Glitteringstone, approximately 1000 metres NE of Thropton, Northumberland.
This area of exposed outcrop measures upwards of 8 metres in length and has numerous motifs along its NW facing slope. Referenced on the Beckensall Archive (BA) as ‘Chirnells Moor H’, it was subsequently added to ERA by NADRAP Team 3 in 2008. The BA describes:
“This large part of the outcrop is separated by grass. There are many cups scattered all over the surfaces, of different sizes, one with a ring and one with a penannular.”
This cleaned model shows that 1 or 2 more cups may have rings or partial rings.
