It was a salt mining area with a tide mill, with a long tradition of occupation. It is located in the innermost area of the Vigo Ría (a kind of fiord), in Pontevedra, Spain. Located in the intertidal zone of the Ulló marshes, favorable for this type of structure. The salt flats were built in 1637 during the reign of Felipe IV (Méndez et al., 2000) and were deactivated in the 18th century, having been part of them transformed for agrarian production. Remains of this complex a dike remain, with north-south orientation, which isolated the salt flats from the sea (Calo-Lourido, 1997). The tide mill was built in the 19th century to take advantage of the force of the tides caused by the saline’s dam. Nowadays, only the foundations of the dike on which it was built remain, but the few examples of these constructions, make these vestiges important. The cultural complex, together with the marsh, that is a natural habitat for birds, constitute a contour of incalculable ecological and cultural value.
