This is a human heart that was donated for research. This 3D reconstruction of the cardiac tissue shows the whole heart from a 68 year old male with a history of hypertension, hyperlipidiemia, chronic kidney disease stage 3, CAD, and cardiomyopathy. The calcification due to CAD is highlighted in this model. As shown, there were a few calcium deposits in the left anterior descending (LAD) artery and right coronary artery (RCA).
We partner with LifeSource to receive donated organs deemed not viable for transplant and the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program to work with organs that were donated for Medical Education and Research.
