This is a human heart that was donated for research. This 3D reconstruction of the cardiac tissue shows the whole heart from a 49 year old male with a history of hypertension and CAD. The calcification due to CAD is highlighted in this model. As shown, there is a large amount of calcification in the left anterior descending (LAD) and circumflex arteries. There are also a afew calcium deposits in the right coronary artery (RCA).
We partner with LifeSource to receive donated organs deemed not viable for transplant and the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program to work with organs that were donated for Medical Education and Research.
