This is a human heart that was donated for research. This 3D reconstruction of the cardiac tissue shows the whole heart from a 75 year old male with a history of CAD, hypertension, and diabetes mellitus. The calcification due to CAD is highlighted in this model. As shown, there is a large amount of calcification in the right coronary artery (RCA) and the proximal areas of left anterior descending (LAD) and circumflex arteries.
We partner with LifeSource to receive donated organs deemed not viable for transplant and the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program to work with organs that were donated for Medical Education and Research.
