The discus-shaped pendant was hung around the neck of Roman boys immediately after birth to ward off mischief. The bulla was made of metal or leather, the choice of materials corresponded to the financial possibilities of the parents. In the cavity were usually small figurines. The Bulla was worn until the age of majority between the ages of 15 and 17.
