Possible prehistoric carved outcrop positioned on private land in the Brunthwaite area, E of Silsden, West Yorkshire. Originially found by Jeff Wellbank, this possible carving was recorded ‘Brunthwaite Crag 01’ by the CSI: Rombalds Moor Project and added to ERA in 2013. The team describe the motifs as :
‘…found on the eastern half of the stone consist of a shallow, 9cm diameter cup with a groove leading out to form a surrounding incomplete ring widening to an erosion patch S of the cup; and a smaller shallow cup towards the NE edge of the rock. Whether all the features are artificial, natural erosion or a mixture of both is open to question…’
