A White Painted Ware Cypriot juglet dating to the Middle or Late Bronze Age, 1800-1450 BCE.
This handmande juglet is decorated with a monochrome intersecting pattern of four parallel lines on the body, with parallel bands on the neck and handle. Small juglets such as these are believed to have been used for precious liquids such as high grade oil. The juglet has a height of 135mm.
The juglet is on display as part of the ‘Cypriot Pottery of the Bronze and Iron Ages’ exhibition of the Hellenic Museum of Melbourne, and is on loan from the Peter Mitrakas and Mary Ann Savas collection.
