Staff WIP, day 2: Challenge - Make a game object with a basic texture under 500 poly, from reference material and concepts, using skills I have learnt. About: I made the Bramble Staff, based on concepts I made (day 1) and reference from online. Its made for a World of Warcraft Resto Druid and based off of weapon designs similar to it, in order to give it some consistency. I went with a very earthy look to go with the natural feel of a Resto Druid. On the staff is a healing potion and a feather to help give variation in colour from the green/brown tones used.
Notes (WIP): The weapon isn’t complete. I feel that I can do a better job on the textures and it needs Normal Maps, so ill fix them up in Zbrush. Need to add a few leaves, to make it look more natural. I’m happy with the bottle, the low poly count and the feather. I might move the vines with the bottle/feather up the staff a bit to make it more balanced. Programs: Maya, Photoshop and 3D Coat
