More and more, brackish water is becoming an important resource in Texas so that fresh water can be conserved. Brackish water is especially useful to O&G companies who use it for fracking instead of our valuable fresh water resources. This model shows 3D Total Dissovled Solid (TDS) concentrations beneath 16 of the most important counties in the Eagle Ford Shale area of Texas. Fresh water is 0-1000 mg/L TDS (shown in Green). Brackish is 1000-10,000 mg/L TDS (shown in Blue). The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) has created a great 2D map of TDS across Texas (http://www.twdb.texas.gov/innovativewater/bracs/GISdata.asp). My model only shows data for wells where well screens (3D data) are reported. The third dimension is essential for companies who want to know where to harvest brackish water. This model is just a part of the full Texas 3D aquifer model which can be seen at https://skfb.ly/6n6no .
