This is my second assignment of Second Year Game Art @ De Montfort University. The brief was to create a ‘Bounty Hunter’ character bust with a budget of 18,000 tris. The aim was to create a semi-realistic look by using Zbrush for a more detailed mesh, then retop in 3DS Max and texuture in Substance Painter/Designer. Since our deadline isn’t until the end of the year, I haven’t rendered in UE4 for the hand-in just yet and have used Marmoset Toolbag. I really enjoyed this project - it was a pretty big learning curve for just a few weeks project but I learned a lot of new techniques and had fun bringing my own bounty hunter concept to life! My inspiration was the Witcher 3, but with a bit of stylisation mixed in. I still want to focus on environment art next year but this was a really nice change for now, and if I did the project again I’d definitely be better set for it.
