I found this aged propane torch in my father’s truck and wanted to try replicating it. I’m working on my craft at 3D modeling real world objects and trying to make them look as close to the real reference as possible. This object is interesting because it is clearly a tool that has been used throughout the years and has bits of wear and tear on it. While I normally enjoy modeling objects that are in perfect condition, I also enjoy objects in these conditions that give them a bit more personality and history. This was also one of the few models where I asked for feedback before actually uploading it. A handful of former classmates and teachers looked over my renders and suggested improvements which helped my upload come out better than what I had before. Overall, I enjoyed this and I plan to continue to create realistic looking 3D models in 3DS Max.
