Boulder on Beanley Moor, approx. 2.5 miles NE of Powburn, Northumberland.
One of a number of carvings found around The Ringses hillfort and remains of other settlement sites on Beanley Moor. Referenced on the Beckensall Archive (BA) as ‘Beanley Moor 6’, the possible carving was added to ERA by NADRAP in 2008. The team describes:
“Closely associated with Beanley 5, this panel displays a single large cup and possible duct. The positioning of the cup near the upper leading edge promotes the possibility of natural weathering formation but no other similar features are evident on the upper ridge.”
