Large flat boulder positioned on the steep northern slope down from Eel Hill on Barningham Moor, County Durham.
Referenced 33 in Beckensall & Laurie’s 1998 publication ‘Prehistoric Rock Art of County Durham, Swaledale and Wensleydale’, this rock was subsequently referenced ‘Barningham Moor 121’ by NADRAP and added to ERA in 2008 with the following description:
“This rock is heavily weathered, with pitting evident over the entire surface. On the east corner is a ‘groove’ like feature, which could be either artificial or natural.”
In their 2008 publication ‘Prehistoric Rock Art in the Northern Dales’ Paul and Barbara Brown record all the features as natural.
