More model informationNorth Devon slipware, gravel tempered, sgraffito barber’s bowl, probably 17C. 10 inch (26 cm) diameter, 3.5 inch (9 cm) deep. It was found upside down in estuary mud. More information on the form here: The Minneapolis Institute of Art This pottery barber’s bowl with a sgraffito design is extremely rare!
This is how it was found in 2015, up-side-down and almost buried in sandy mud. I think the glaze was protected through it’s continuous contact with Estuary mud!
