Ballycommon Chevron Carved Voussoir3D Model
Single chevron decorated voussoir from the Romanesque west doorway of Dromineer Church ruins (TN014-004003- ), Co. Tipperary, now embedded into a concrete base on the grounds of St Mary’s RC church, in Ballycommon (NIAH Reg. No. 22401439) . Dromineer church was repointed in a ‘clean-up’ scheme, the western doorway was rebuilt, incorporating decorated Romanesque masonry. Similar pieces were also incorporated into the surrounding graveyard (TN014-004004-) wall and this stone was removed to the current location around this time. Wedge-shaped voussoir decorated with lateral chevrons, with two small flower heads visible within the small lozenges between the chevrons. The top of the stone is curved and wider than the lower end, the top surface has also been decorated with a chevron pattern and the edge or arris of the stone is decorated with two chevrons forming a recessed lozenge on the arris.
