Ballycloghduff Exhibitionist Figure WM030-0203D ModelNoAI
A male exhibitionist figure secured into a free standing pillar inside of the boundary wall of Ballycloghduff House (Ballcloghduff, Kilkenny West By., Grogan ED) (as of 2017). The stone possibly came from a demolished Castle to the E of the present house. Described in 1973 as a carved figure ‘built into a gate pier of Ballycloghduff House. The stone appears to be of limestone and was at one time painted over. The figure is cut in low relief and shows, head, arms, torso and legs. The head is quite detailed with large oval eyes, the eyelids and bags under the eyes can be seen. The nose is rectangular and the mouth lozenge shaped and open. It is possible the mouth has been damaged. The ears are large and C shaped. The feet (bulky carved) are turned in towards each other. In the left hand the figure holds a key. The right hand is placed between the legs and may be holding the genitals’ (SMR File 30/03/1973).
