The B-34 gun mount was designed in the design bureau of the Bolshevik plant under the leadership of I.I. Ivanov in 1936. The prototype was made in the middle of 1937 and was tested at the test site in August-September. The barrel consisted of a free pipe, casing and breech. The shutter is a horizontal wedge, a semi-automatic mechanism of pneumatic action (subsequently replaced by a spring). Delivery of cartridges forced, pneumatic rammer. B-34 guns were installed on 2 Baltic and 2 Black Sea cruisers of projects 26 and 26-bis, post-war patrol ships (projects 29, 42, 50), floating bases of project 310, the gunboat of the Amur flotilla “Red Star” and other ships and batteries of coastal defense (including two-gun battery No. 668 at the Kronstadt fort “Prince Menshikov”.
