More model information3D model of the Austria fountain on the Freyung in Vienna’s 1st district. The fountain was designed by Ludwig von Schwanthaler and the figures were produced by the royal Bavarian ore foundry under Ferdinand Miller in Munich. The fountain was unveiled on October 16, 1846 and consists of a four-pass basin made of Mathausen granite, a column surrounded by oak trees, allegorical figures of the four main rivers of the monarchy at the time (Danube, Po, Elbe, Vistula) and the statue of Austria with a star-studded cloak, mural crown, lance and shield. Inscription on the fountain: UNDER THE REIGN OF EMPEROR FERDINAND I. ERECTED BY THE CITIZENS OF VIENNA MDCCCXLVI.
