More model informationConstruction of japanese medieval warships had it’s height in the 16th and 17th century. The Atakebune were the largest warships of that period and were more like floating fortresses than ships, which operated in coastal areas. It was said that their hull above the water surface was covered in ironplating and they were armed with 4-6 cannons and large arquebuses.
The model is the ship without armament. The crest from the sail and the flags is from the Tokugawa Clan which ruled Japan as the Shogunate from the 16th to the 19th century
