Roe and Glancy (1955): This fragment is that of a solid ring-head with deeply sunk panels at the angles of intersection. The members of the cross have rounded mouldings and are delimited by two parallel incised lines. The arcs of the ring are similarly outlined and the billets are decorated with a circular design of tiny bosses set round a central depression. N. side the centre of the cross is filled by a rather low boss in a shallow roll moulding. The boss is covered by an all-over pattern of fine mesh interlace . S. side is a circular medallion of eight spiral bosses set about a central boss and linked by C- and S-spiral turns This cross-head has been laid on the base in such a manner that the one remaining member of the cross appears as the top of the shaft, but as this is marked as a panel by two parallel incised lines, it is more probable that it is one of the arms.
