Limestone fragment containing sunk relief decoration dating to the Amarna Period (c. 1346–1336 BC). The fragment contains the cartouche of the didactic name of the Aten on the left side, the bottom of which is now missing. This is the early form of the name of the Aten. To the right of it are the remains of a circle, which might have contained an inlay to represent the disk of the Aten. Above this is a horizontal border line. It is unknown what type of monument this fragment originates from. It was previously in the collection of the Kent family, who list it as coming from Flinders Petrie’s excavation at Amarna. Petrie excavated the site during the 1891–92 season. The fragment was later bequeathed to Harrogate Museum in 1968.
