More model informationTravertine fragment of sunk relief dating to the Amarna Period (c. 1346–1336 BC). The relief contains three columns of hieroglyphs, with a thick horizontal border line above. The inscription mentions the “House of Rejoicing” and the “House of the Aten”, which have been identified as the Great Palace and the Great Temple of the Aten at Amarna. It is unknown what type of monument this fragment originates from. It was previously in the collection of the Kent family, who list it as coming from Flinders Petrie’s excavation at Amarna. Petrie excavated the site during the 1891–92 season. The fragment was later bequeathed to Harrogate Museum in 1968.
