The remains of the north-west tower of the fortress at al-Hilla on Mograt Island, Sudan. Three walls of the fortress survived surrounding a space of 32m by 36m. The walls measured up to 3.30m high and 2m wide with the remains of internal staircases still present. Radiocarbon dates obtained during excavation returned a probable period of occupation from between 1650AD to 1810AD.
