More model informationAhu Hanga Tetenga is a large platform site with several fallen giant moai statues located on the coast of Rapa Nui. This erosion has increased over time as sea levels rise and more extreme storm events occur more frequently. With funds from UNESCO, conservators completed construction of the sea wall in 2006 using local materials. The wall protects the eastern portion of the ahu from erosion caused by rising sea levels, helping preserve the statues and their spiritual integrity.
