This is the famous ‘King List’ in the Temple of Seti I at Abydos in Egypt (built about 3300 years ago). The King List is situated on the wall of a corridor which opens off the south-east side of the first hypostyle hall – sometimes called the ‘Gallery of the Lists’. The corridor is fairly narrow and lit by fluorescent lights situated on the floor. The structure from motion photogrammetric model was constructed from a series of digital photographs. The lighting is uneven and fairly low level, so conditions for photography are not ideal. The photographs were taken with a small hand-held camera with a 21mm lens. The shutter speeds were relatively slow (1/30th to 1/40th of a second) and the ISO was of necessity high (3200), which has resulted in Images which are ‘grainy’ and not optimally sharp. Sadly, tripods were forbidden in the temple so there was little I could do about this. It would be great to get a better set some day.
