The walls of València la Vella. Currently the walls are the most relevant and visible feature of the city. It is estimated they would have an approximate perimeter of 1 km, a width of 2 m and a height of 5/6 m and it would be adapted to the topography of the terrain. It is made of a double wall of masonry joinned by lime mortar, and its interior was filled with rubble of stones and clay. The walls were reinforced with numerous exterior towers with a square plan (3 x 3 m). Ten towers have been identified and evidence of one of the city gates has been found, which allowed access to a large public square by city southern side. This work, monumental for its time, emphasises the military character of the city and testifies to its historical importance. It was built in a single moment it is observed how intramural urbanism always provides easy access to the parapet walk or the upper part of the wall.
