To create a 3-room exhibit based on a career of an artist, I picked an interview with Childish Gambino. I created a cut paper scale model, then took the drawings of the flat sketches for each layer, uploaded them to CAD program where I modeled them in 3D, and assembled the 3D version. The first room was inspired by Donald Glover’s struggle with his identity (The Performer, Childish Gambino vs. the Person, Donald Glover), reflects that dichotomy. I rendered the first picture of Donald Glover in red, and Childish Gambino’s face in Blue on a red background, the floor morphs the two images to show the integration of both versions of himself. The second room reflects his struggle with jealousy, I showed a man and woman on opposite sides, obscured by cutouts that emulate abstracted smoke. On the bottom, the woman is kissing a man who is not her partner. The back panel is an interactive exhibit wall meant for climbing which contains elements of different aspects of Glover’s life and career.
